SVRA Spring Vintage Race & Cookout

Host: Mark Mrozek

Update 3, (May 16, 2024)

Second Update to the Quick update: The Breakfast location & time has been changed (Alma’s Cafe permanently closed on May 12th)… See below for details. The cookout portion of this event is STILL ON!

Hi folks,

It’s looking like great weather at RA Saturday (high 70’s & mostly sunny), so I just wanted to reach out to those of you registered to attend the BMC SVRA Spring Vintage event up at RA this Saturday to update you on the few details:

  1. Unfortunately, Don G will not be able to attend this weekend, so I’m going to help coordinate the event. I’m Mark Mrozek, a BMC member for about 5 years and recently appointed Chair of the new BMC Motorsports Committee. I’m happy to step in to get a chance to meet with you and share ideas about how the BMC Motorsports Committee can better serve you and other members.
  2. Breakfast: We have a reservation for (15) at 7:15 AM at Diner 67 on Hwy 67, just west of I-41 in Lomira. If you are not planning to attend either breakfast or the entire event, please let me know! After breakfast, we’ll take a scenic drive through the Northern Kettle Moraine to Road America (about 1 hr).
  3. At Road America: Upon arriving at Road America, we’ll be entering at the Main Gate. Saturday Admission is $40 per person (free for Veterans, active military, reserves, and retired with ID) w/VISA, MasterCard, Discover & AmEx accepted. If you are skipping breakfast, we will be meeting up on the inside of Turn 6, just south of the Corvette Bridge (see a Track Map for directions) with Cody & a few other members of the RX Club of Wisconsin to network and enjoy the fun! We will have a Red EZ-Up and BMC banner displayed. Lunch will now be provided, including burgers, brats, hot dogs and water/sodas, but you're welcome to bring any snacks, side dishes or desserts to share! Also, don’t forget to bring a chair!
Please let me know ASAP if your plans have changed and you are not able to attend. Otherwise, on behalf of Don and the BMC Board, I hope we’re all looking forward to an exciting day of Vintage Racing at beautiful Road America! Hope to see you there.
Mark

[Previous information from Don G:
Come join your fellow vintage drivers on Saturday morning at Alma's Cafe just off of HWYs 33 and 41 in Allentown, WI. for breakfast before we start our journey to Road America for the SVRA racing event. We will meet at Alma's at 7:15 am and after a hardy breakfast will head up to the track for a day of great vintage sports car racing including the "Heritage Race" that features 1990 through 1993 Mazda Miatas.
Not going to meet us for breakfast? When we get to the track we will be setting up just to the left on the inside of turn 6. We are also planning on cooking out for lunch and side dishes would be appreciated. Some are planning on signing up at the Road America office for the noon guided track tour. The track tour is a guided (behind a pace car with no passing allowed) two to three lap tour of the track where you will get the same view as the race car drivers see only at a leisurely pace. To get tickets to this event go to roadamerica.com and follow the links to the SVRA festival. Also, if you are a veteran you get into this race for free.]

Contact Mark Mrozek if you are planning on attending this event so he can insure we have enough food. Email is below.
