Join us for a scenic tour of the Great River Road (GRR), up and down the Mississippi Day 1 – Saturday, July 22
Day 1-Saturday July 22.
Leg 1 – We start in Platteville at a Kwik Trip and proceed to Potosi where we will tour their Beer Museum (cost $5/adult, $3/over 60
and you get a free beverage at the bar). (You may want to stay at a Platteville motel Friday night; we are looking for one).
Leg 2 – From Potosi we resume on the GRR and wind our way to Prairie du Chien where we have 6 different restaurants on the same block from which to choose.
Leg 3 – From Prairie du Chien we make our way north along the GRR with a stop at a fish hatchery and a scenic bluff overlook. As we get into La Crosse, we wind our way up to Grandad
Bluff for a pit stop and a fabulous view of the river, the city of La Crosse, and 3 states. From there we head to our motel where we can freshen up before we head to dinner.
Day 2 – Sunday, July 23
Leg 4 – We will have a complementary breakfast at the motel and head north to Wabasha (famous for the Grumpy Old Men movie).
Leg 5 – From Wabasha we head south on the Minnesota side until we cross back over the Mississippi River into La Crosse. Those who wish to head home may leave at this point.
Others will spend their 2nd night at the LaCrosse motel.
Day 3 Optional – Monday, July 24
Leg 6 – This optional segment follows the Great River Road back to Prairie du Chien for a second chance to have lunch at one of the other restaurants that you missed on Day 1.
From there you are free to go home.
This trip is limited to 20 cars. RSVP by July 15th. Please put GRR in the subject line.
