Mississippi River Ride

Update #5: (September 11, 2018)

We will begin our drive at the Kwik Trip at 430 Water St (Hwy 80) in Platteville, WI. The driver's meeting will be at 8:30 and drive begins at 9 a.m. We will ramble through southwest Wisconsin and Iowa, crossing the Mississippi at Sabula. Lunch will be at Poopy's in Savanna, Illinois then we will go north through Galena and will eat dinner at the Arthur House which is north of Platteville. They will offer a large buffet with salad bar. For people who are interested, we can go to a comedy club which starts at 8:00 P.M. The cost is $8.00 per person. Dinner is $14.95 + tax.

If you would like to stay in the area, we have reserved a block of rooms at the brand new Holiday Inn Express in downtown Platteville (608-342-2238) )for both Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th. You can reserve either night or both nights. You may call in to reserve your room between July 29, 2018 and Aug 11, 2018. Please mention that you are with the Badgerland Miata Club. All rooms and suites will be priced at $129.00 per night, and sharing is possible. The hotel offers a nice continental breakfast, pool, exercise room, underground parking and a gathering room for us. There is also a large pizza place just across the street, so if anyone is interested in a little laughter and libation, we could begin our journey there Friday evening. If Galena interests you, we will be only about 1/2 hour from there for a Sunday adventure. We can only handle 20 cars, so get your name in soon.

For people arriving on Friday night, we will be meeting at Steve's Pizza at 7:30 p.m. Steve's pizza is located accross from the Holiday Inn Express.

We have added a Sunday morning drive for Sept l6. Will end in New Glarus at approx 11:30, so that will be a little closer to home for most people. Ride will start at same place as Saturday drive and we hope that nothing washes out before that time. If no one is interested in this ride, we will probably do it anyway. Unless we take a wrong turn, we will not be seeing the Mississippi on Sunday.
