Meandering in May......Puddledock Road III

Hosts: Terry Rieck & Henry Netzinger

Update #2 (April 30, 2017))

Spring has sprung....the grass has riz....I wonder where the flowers iz....Not to worry ....Our woods and streams are coming alive! On May 20th we'll be checking out some of our favorite familiar and not so familiar roads in Dane and Green County.

We'll be meeting in the parking lot of the mini-mall across from PDQ, 5280 Williamsburg Way, Fitchburg (608-271-2000). To get to the parking lot, you'll want to be on the 12-18 Beltline either coming from the east or the west. At the 151 interchange (Verona Rd.) turn south keeping in the right lane at 2nd stop light, turn Right on Williamsburg Way, turn right onto Williamsburg Ct ....... we'll be in the parking lot on the right in the mini mall – look for the Miatas. We'll have a driver meeting at 10:00.......leaving promptly at 10:30.

Exiting the parking lot turn left onto Williamsburg Ct, then turn right onto Williamsburg Way ,do a 180 through round about, going to the stop light. Turn Right onto Verona Road Hwy 151 South. Zero odometer. Check driving directions sheet.

Stay in the right lane on Hwy 151---- not everyone will make it through one light....we'll regroup, if possible, on 151 as we head south. We’ll be on 151 South for about 6 miles.

Our first leg takes us west and south to New Glarus where we'll have a leisurely lunch at Culver’s.

Our second leg we plan to explore some newer roads......returning to New Glarus for some dessert at Kennedy’s Ice Cream and Grill, 400 Railroad Street. For those who wish to taste wine instead, they can go to Primrose Winery’s store located at 500 First Street two blocks off Railroad Street. We will have about 20 minutes at this stop.

Our third, and last leg, has us heading west and south where we'll encounter Puddledock Rd. and assorted fun roads. Entering Monroe, we’ll see that quite a bit of work has been done in and around their square. Lots of unique shops and a block and a half from the square, Minhas Brewery is located. They've expanded to include a distillery and a winery. Tastings of all their products are available. We will be able to spend some time around the square, after about 45 minutes we will need to regroup at a location TBA for our ride back to New Glarus. Dinner will be at the Sugar River Pizza Company, (608-527-5000) 700 Railroad Street, in New Glarus. We've reserved space but do need you to let us know if you'll be staying for dinner. You can see their full menu at sugarriverpizzia.com. Ordering is off the menu. We can outdoors by the gas fire pit if the weather permits.

We have no set limits on the number of cars but please let us know by the 13th of May on both the ride and the dinner.
