On Saturday June 15, 2013, a warm, overcast, rainless day, the annual Holiday Motors Father's Day Ride event took place. At the invitation of Nick Faymoville, Manager of Mazda Sales, the BMC, the RXC of Wisconsin and other selected Miata owners gathered to meet & greet and partake in a delicious lunch provided by a Boy Scout troop from the Fond du Lac area for Holiday Mazda. This is a customer (actual & potential) appreciation effort that they have done for as long as I can remember. This was the first time, however, that some of the RX Club cars joined in our drive at this Holiday Mazda sponsored event.

After lunch 32 Miatas and 4 RXC cars began the tour that I, the organizer, coined the Nuclear Plant Drive by traveling around Fond du Lac, up the east side of Lake Winnebago to Chilton to Manitowoc, up the west coast of Lake Michigan to Two Rivers, past the Point Beach State Forest & campgrounds, up to the Point Beach Nuclear Plant - a two unit 1150 MW total output in operation since the early seventies -- for a viewing of both the south & north entrances, then north 5 miles for viewing of the Kewaunee Nuclear Station - a single unit 600 MW output -- just shut down as the first step in a lengthy decommissioning process.

Continuing our drive - back south via scenic rural roads - very few 'twisties' in this part of the state. We drove through Tish Mills, Mishicot, by Fox Hills Golf Resort, to Kiel & St Anna to Blanck's Supper Club for drinks & dinner.

A good time was had by all, according to my oberservations and the conversations I had. Even the younger RXC drivers with their "higher performance" cars and their desire to go fast - enjoyed an afternoon on the road, I guess. However, the RXC group stayed pretty much to themselves. Some of our members had concerns that the RXC cars were driving more aggressively than the BMC desires and is accustomed to. Unfortunately, their driving style was observed and negatively commented on by a new member.
