September 10-12, 2020
Host: Dennis & Jane Schmidt, Ginger & Brian Carney
Update #3: (August 13, 2020)
It’s time again for another Door County Extravaganza . Join Dennis, Jane, Brian and Ginger
Jane and Dennis Schmidt and their trusty assistants Ginger and Brian Carney are in the midst of planning another fun, challenging getaway. We’re still tossing around lots of clever and creative ideas, but it’s not too early for you to sign up and reserve your rooms in Ephraim.
This is what we have planned so far:
Here is the Friday September 11th Drive information.
Drivers meeting 9:15 at Somerset.
Leg stretch at Cave Point Park. Preceded by restroom stop at Jacksonport's Lakeside Park. ( Running water facilities vs CPP’s pit toilet)
Lake side roads to Stone Harbor Resort for lunch.
Tables of 4 or 6 people
Separate bills ( per couple/ car)
I have requested outdoor dining weather permitting. ( Has water view)
We each have to pick in advance one of the following:
Tuna Salad Sandwich $11.00
Grilled Chicken Sandwich $11.00
Bacon Cheeseburger $13.50
Grilled Ruben $13.00
Door County Cherry Salad $13.00
Sandwiches come with choices of French fries or chips.
I need to give choices and number of dinners by September 2nd
For those not comfortable with 4 or 6 at a table I'm looking into options.
Possibly take out and going to Sunset Park.
Two walk-able restaurants from Stone Harbor.
However I will need to maintain 20 plus dinners for Stone Harbor to hold our spot.
From lunch we'll follow the Bayside's county B cross back to Lakeside Park. Approximately 2 hours after lunch we’ll be back at Somerset.
For those who crave an Ice cream stop.
Wilson's in Ephriam or Door County ice cream factory North on Hwy 42 should work.
Neither one has parking or ability to handle 40 ice cream at one time.
Door County has some great marketplaces, wineries, towns and parks not on this drive. If you want to do a partial drive and visit one of those attractions, please let me know so I can keep a count of remaining cars.
As always, enjoy the ride.
For dinner we will be having a picnic at Somerset Inn. The Badgerland Miata Club is picking up the tab for this meal. Menu choices can be found here and Jane needs a decision by August 28.
The Photo Challenge will be held on Saturday.
Driver’s Meeting at 8:45am
Challenge begins at 9:00am
All participants must check-in by 2:00pm.
The Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday evening; separate checks. 5:30 cocktails; 6:00pm dinner. See attachment
