THE ZOOM - AZ - ING DOOR COUNTY RACE

Which team* will win The Zoom -AZ- ing Race?
Which team* will complete all the "road blocks" and reach the check-in point first?
Who will be the first to jump on the mat and be declared "Winner"?

Dennis & Jane Schmidt with assistance from Brian & Ginger Carney have created another exciting Door County event. Inspired by the popular reality show, The Amazing Race, competing teams will complete each fun challenge in order to receive their next clue. For example, you might be asked to drive to Ephraim and build an ice cream cone tower, and once it is completed to the satisfaction of the on-site judge, you will be given your clue for the next location and challenge. The team to return to Home Base with all challenges completed and the best time will be declared the winner.

Those of you who have participated in our previous Door County events know how challenging and fun they are. Those of you who have yet to enjoy a "Schmidt Drive" can look forward to the best fun you'll have this summer.

  • Hotel rooms are $119.00 plus tax per night; deluxe suites are $129.00 plus tax per night.
  • Two-night minimum required.
  • Complimentary breakfast will be served Friday, Saturday & Sunday mornings from 7-9 am.
  • When you register, be sure to tell them you are with Badgerland Miata Club.
  • The block of rooms will be held until July 25, 2016

THURSDAY, AUGUST 25
7:00pm     Social in Room 113. Please bring your own beverages and a snack to share if you wish. (Thursday night optional; however, first event begins at 9:00am on Friday)

FRIDAY, AUGUST 26
Friday morning Door County Trolly ride; $20 per person.

Friday Lunch at Shipwrecked Brew Pub in Egg Harbor for lunch. Limited menu: $15.00 tax & tip included. Cash bar extra.

Friday afternoon short-drive back to the Somerset.

Friday night dinner: gourmet fish fry at The English Inn, Fish Creek. For $19.95 we will have a choice of all-you-can-eat perch, walleye, whitefish, cod, catfish, frog legs, or bluegill. (cash bar extra). You will also have the option of ordering off their excellent menu.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 27
Saturday drivers meeting at 9:00am with the event starting at 9:30am.

Saturday evening Awards Banquet at The Log Den. We will have our own room while dining family style for $26.00 per person, tax and gratuity included. Cash bar extra.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 28
Breakfast at Home Base, then say our "good-byes" and head for home.

The event will be limited to twenty cars. We are presently at 20 cars and will begin a waiting list if anyone else is interested. So, contact Jane now at jschmidt156@hotmail.com (414-303-1546), then call the Somerset Inn to reserve your room (deadline for the Somerset is July 25).
(*)- You do not need to be in a team. Individuals can compete as well. All you need is a Miata and a sense of fun.
